Guitar Crazy!

 

We have a new obsession. Tractors are still pretty cool, but it's rather clear that guitars rank much higher on the list these days! We're not really sure what spurred Luke's curiosity and love...all-consuming adoration for guitars, but they started to show up in conversation and play some time after the pumpkins were put away and before the Christmas decorations came out.

Perhaps it was the Imagination Movers (a Disney show that features four guys solving problems and playing music on guitars, among other things), or the fact that Daddy has a guitar in his office that he sometimes lets Luke play. Or maybe it's that we happen to listen to a lot of music that has guitar featured in it. In any case, Luke loves them! He points them out in magazines, toy catalogs, and books (sometimes we have to go searching for a special one at the library covering this subject and only this subject...see above!), he plays his air guitar in the back seat of the car as we're driving and listening to music, and he is drawn to toy guitars at his friends' homes.

So it was only fitting that we got Luke a guitar for Christmas this year. We knew this would win us "Parent of the Year" awards for sure! Here are a series of videos of the opening of this very special gift.








Happy camper! He did not put it down for 5 hours straight after opening it!! Literally...it ate dinner with us, serenaded the rest of our Christmas evening together, and we were gearing up for Luke to ask us to take it to bed with him, but we put our foot down there.

What will it be next? It will be interesting to see. Now the dilemma...do we have a tractor or guitar-themed party for his 2nd birthday? He spent more of his second year of life loving tractors, but guitars are #1 right now. We'll see...
