Meeting Evie

At 10:11p.m. on February 20th, 2016, we got the best phone call of our lives telling us that we are officially parents again! Evelyn's birth mother had discharged from the hospital early and signed the papers to make her ours! We got to meet our little girl earlier than expected!

Around the 11 o'clock hour, we laid our eyes on our sweet angel baby for the very first time! Despite having driven for 11 consecutive hours that day, it being super late, and our eyes being bloodshot from a ridiculous amount of tears, these photos are some of my absolute favorite ever!!

Evelyn had some high bilirubin levels after birth, so she needed to be on the lights for a few days. She spent the next two nights after we met in the transitional nursery. We visited her there each day for a few hours (we wanted to be with her 24/7 of course, but because we were not "banded" the hospital only allowed us to see her when the case worker was present). That was so incredibly hard, but the times we were together were amazingly sweet and special!

Feeding her for the first time!

Proud Daddy!

We are so incredibly thrilled by this amazing gift from God!

Our little glowworm!

You can't see my mouth in this picture, but my eyes are smiling big enough for my whole face!!

Falling madly in love!

After what felt like an eternity, Evie was released and discharged from the hospital on Monday, February 22nd in the early evening and we were able to take her "home" (to a hotel room...but, hey...that was much better than a hospital!) Here she is in the outside world for the first time!
