Birthday Fun

Luke had a great time celebrating turning 5 this year! We started with a special day at school, where I came in and read one of Luke's favorite books to his class (he chose "Dragons Love Tacos"). Then, he got to pick a birthday prize out of the treasure chest. The kids in his class also asked him questions about his favorites, or about his birthday plans. It was really neat!

On the evening of Luke's actual birthday, we celebrated with both sets of grandparents and Luke got to open up a few birthday presents.

He chose tilapia, roasted carrots, smashed potatoes, green beans, and brownies for his birthday dinner (a mighty mature menu choice for a 5 year old!!).

We also had a big party for him at church again. Luke invited lots of friends this year from church, school, and the neighborhood, and we had 17 kids join us for the festivities!! (That was a lot of kids...)

The theme was minion. We had Despicable Me treats, did a minion craft, played minion tic-tac-toe, and completed a "Minion Run" (an obstacle course designed around one of Luke's favorite video games).

Two of Luke's special guests (and favorite people): neighbor, Wyatt, and cousin, Mya

Here was the cake/cupcake display (handmade by yours truly and two amazing grandmothers!)

It was a great day, filled with lots of love and excitement. So glad we were able to celebrate in so many special ways this year!
