Luke got his very own nativity set this year. For Day 2, he played with the pieces and we reenacted the story together. Then, we wrapped up Baby Jesus in a box and placed him under the tree to be opened on Christmas morning. So, the manger lays empty until then. Mary and Joseph just had to "eat dinner" with us, and if you ask Luke if baby Jesus is in Mary's belly, he says, "No. He's in a present under the Christmas tree". I'm sure he'll get the symbolism in a few years, but for now, we make a new family tradition!
