Halloween was full of fun, new experiences, and lots of opportunities to dress up this year! Luke wanted to be a dragon, and had that decided about a month before Halloween arrived. We ordered the costume online this year, and Luke anxiously awaited the day the package would arrive. He was thrilled when it did! This was the first time he put the costume on. Can you tell he's a bit excited?
He also had a great celebration at school, that I was able to join him for. He participated in a costume parade, trick-or-treating, and a class party, where he did some pumpkin bowling, some candy corn counting, and some songs and "scary" roaring with his classmates.
He carved his annual "special" pumpkin with Daddy, where Luke gets to pick whatever crazy, intricate design he wants to challenge Daddy to carve. This year, sticking with the theme, he wanted a dragon. Here they are hard at work:
And the finished product:
I was also able to get in on the carving and jack-o-lantern creating, as Luke invited me to his "Special Person's Night" at school. We had a lot of fun drawing the face (Luke did most of it this year!), carving, and hanging out with buddies. At the end of the night, all the kids sat on the perimeter of the gym with their pumpkins lit up. It looked pretty neat!
Halloween night was SOOOO cold and rainy (great costume choice for the weather, by the way!), but we still had a great time sharing dinner and trick-or-treating with some neighbors. Luke really enjoyed celebrating the holiday with other kids, and despite the weather, there were still so many more kids out and about than in our old neighborhood.
The day after Halloween, Luke stayed in his dragon costume all day long! We told him that after Halloween was over, he could wear it as much as he would like. He took us very seriously on that offer. We didn't mind too much, and I was glad it had dried out overnight so that he was able to do it!
It was an all-around thrilling Halloween for this little dragon!! We're still working on all the candy he collected, and probably will be until Christmas!
