We made it up to Michigan one more time before the summer comes to a close. This time, we visited with my family. It was a fantastic week, with beautiful weather, fabulous company, and lots of cousin bonding time (Luke and Mya are only about 8 months apart, but until now, that age difference has seemed quite big. Now they are able to interact more and do just about the same things. They had an absolute ball together, and couldn't get enough of one another!)
Here they are enjoying the beach close to Grandma and Grandpa's new home (They didn't hold Grandma's hands for too long, by the way. Once the water was in sight...these two just had to get in!).
We weren't quite dressed for the occasion, but we made due and shed a few pieces of clothing.
The kids also got to make ice cream (the old-fashioned way) with Grandma and Grandpa. They helped turn the crank, fill the bucket with ice, and watched as we added the ingredients.
One of the best parts of the trip was that I got to celebrate my 31st birthday with my family (minus Beck and Gav...we missed you guys!). Luke put the candles in this yummy cake that my mom made for me.
And, Mya sure enjoyed eating it!
The kids spent a lot of time swimming in Grandma's pool (a.k.a. the hot tub). It was the perfect size for them!
And, Luke got the opportunity to go down on the field at Uncle Zach's football game. He thought this was fantastic...although he mostly liked the "lightning people" (the cheerleaders!).
And, of course, Luke got some rides on Grandpa's tractor!
A couple of formal shots before dinner one night:
And, a not so formal one too:
Thanks for a great, fun week, Mom and Dad! We had a wonderful time and I'm so glad we could all spend some time together!
